Converting 6-Block Patterns into 8-Shaft Huck Lace—Seminar, Knoxville, TN

Convergence 2020 Knoxville

Knoxville Convention Center, Knoxville TN

Saturday, July 25, 2020 – 9 am to noon
3-hour Seminar

Using Design Pages and Transparent Overlays from An Exaltation of Blocks, learn how to create 6-block patterns using two styles of profile drafts, and how to translate these patterns into 8-shaft Huck Lace. The seminar includes a PowerPoint lecture documenting how adding or subtracting shafts in the tie-up creates the characteristic warp- and weft-floats. Weavers will copy their patterns onto graph paper, and with the aid of transparent Templates, create the tie-up and treadling information for “ready-to-weave” patterns upon return to their studios. Weavers with more than eight shafts can experiment with combining several different patterns at the same time.

Handout: $20 –  Coil bound Handout includes threading instructions for both Profile Drafts, a transparent Template for each draft, and four envelopes containing Design Pages and Transparent Overlays.

Supplies for Design Session: Graph paper -- 4 squares to the inch, #2 pencils or a few colored pencils, eraser – pink pearl, pencil sharpener, straight edge
