It’s in the Warp: Color and Design in Rep—Five and One-half Day Workshop

John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown NC

Sunday, June 5, 6:30 PM to 9 PM
Monday to Friday, June 6 to June 10, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Two different colored warps (a pattern and a background colorway) combine with thick and thin weft to form the elements for exploring block design in Warp-faced Rep. Participants will design the color of their warps on Sunday evening, and begin warping their projects on Monday. Weavers will learn how to use two threads during warping and how to make a single end cross. Discussions will focus on profile drafting, use of color, movement of blocks in independent and linked fashion, skeleton tie-up, and different threading systems. Weavers will work exclusively on their own loom to understand the weave structure of Rep. Woven runners will be exhibited on Friday afternoon.

Handout: $20 for coil-bound booklet
